Free Fire and PUBG which one is best

According to some estimates, the global mobile gaming industry is worth approximately 68 billion USD dollars in 2020. Some protections suggest that this value can be as high as $102 billion by the end of 2023, so the popularity of mobile games shows no signs of slowing down.

There are thousands of mobile games that compete for consumer attention, but Garena Free Fire and PUBG have consistently stood out as the leaders in the global market.

How Are Free Fire and PUBG Similar?

Before going into the details of each, we have to mention that both of these games share a lot of similarities. As a matter of fact, the game developers for these two games followed a similar path to other successful projects in the gaming industry, for instance, Far Cry.

The plot starts when a group of characters parachutes into an island. The goal of the game is to survive, but there are many different strategies you select as well as various upgrades you can acquire. For example, you can change your character’s image, gain the ability to regenerate health faster, learn how to reload faster, and obtain additional skills as you explore the island around you. And, both games feature a variety of playing modes, including single-player, 4 versus 4 team games, and other options.

Basic Differences Between the Two

Although both games share a lot of similarities, there are also basic differences between the two.

Free fire is more geared towards general shooter games. It requires a lot of skill, but it also aims to entertain the player through attractive graphics and fun plot elements that keep the audience engaged.

PUBG is more of a war game with a lot of emphasis on weapons and strategy. And, this game also has robust anti-cheat systems and different map choices that alter the terrain you play in. You can choose to play in snow, jungles, deserts, and even on the moon.

Comparing Download Statistics

Both of these platforms are available through mobile device stores and they are free to play, although you can also make in-game purchases to unlock additional features.

As for downloads, PUBG has registered more than 600 million downloads globally since it was launched back in 2017. It has dominated most markets, establishing itself in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Free Fire is very close to PUBG, but it comes up a bit short at 500 million downloads since it was first launched. That said, Free Fire has found more success in Asia, Latin America, and similar regions than in Europe, the US, and other western areas.

Analyzing Which Game Attracts More Players with SocialPeta

There’s a handful of platforms that can help you determine which game attracts the most players, but we’ll use SocialPeta for the purpose of this article.

According to this app intelligence tool, both Free Fire and PUBG have received more than 2 million downloads last month. These games haven’t faltered in terms of popularity, so it’s safe to assume that they will remain a staple in the industry for the foreseeable future.

Let’s compare different aspects of the game

ENGINE: –

PUBG is made with Unreal engine whereas GFF (Garena Free Fire) is made with Unity engine. This means PUBG will have a predominant advantage in terms of graphics.

GAME PHYSICS: –

In PUBG, they have added a lot of things which are rather small to be noticeable but makes the game realistic. Whereas, in GFF, such detailing is absent. For example, to understand the recoil property of a gun one must understand all the stats of that gun and it’s almost completely realistic whereas in GFF, you will not find any recoil.

GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION: –

Due to the use of Unreal engine, PUBG gets better graphics and animation is also great. I don’t think I need to say alot about it as other answers consists much information of this point. PUBG mobile for India can get max 60 fps whereas the Chinese version can go upto 120 fps which is simply astonishing for mobile phones.

CONTROLS: –

PUBG have independent controls which can be set completely according to the user. Not just the buttons but also sensitivity for each and everything ( FPP, TPP, all the scopes for ADS, camera and Gyroscope) which gives the user an extreme control over its Gameplay.

However, in GFF, there’s no recoil at all and so there are no such settings.

USER DEPENDENCY: –

You can headshot your enemies with an AR in close range in PUBG but not in GFF as PUBG has aim assist whereas GFF has aim lock from which your target gets locked and you cannot miss now and neither control your spray.

Now because of this, In PUBG, to kill your enemy, you require more skills as the game won’t be helping you much unlike GFF. Also, if you want more challenge, you can turn the aim assist off.

DIFFICULTY: –

PUBG tests the gamer more because of the above point than GFF. This makes PUBG more difficult and a real E-Sport.

Before PUBG, E-Sports was not for Mobile. PC games are far more better and difficult than any other mobile game but PUBG proved that Mobiles can also be gaming a console which is historic.

QUALITY OF THE GAME: –

PUBG is an accepted and respected E-Sports. It is the best game for a PC Gamer if he wants to play a mobile game as it’s the closest to give that level of gaming.

It’s more difficult, challenging, full of options (literally) and is probably the only shooter game on mobile platform that PC players like Shroud (who can afford high end AAA rated games as well as a PC that can handle them) would like to play.

It’s a AAA rated game for mobile phones though cannot compete with those in PC but is the closest by far.

GFF stands no where even close to PUBG here.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: –

Yes, PUBG require a better hardware but that can never be a reason for saying GFF as a better game.

Think about it, just because an i3 processor 4 GB RAM and integrated graphics card PC which is more than 10 year old cannot be used to play Doom Eternal, Solitaire doesn’t becomes a better game.

Though a 15k phone is more than enough to run PUBG without destroying the phone’s hardware.

PERSPECTIVE OF USER: –

If you are a true gamer who loves to play games, conquer them, feel them and push your own limits, then go for PUBG otherwise go for GFF.

For a gamer as mentioned above, PUBG is exponentially better but for a non gamer who just wants to play for fun and time pass, not have a better phone or doesn’t have enough time, GFF might be an option. In any of the case, the sheer gaming experience is clearly better in PUBG.

Remember, video games are not made for a normal player to feel like god but to only give that feeling to a real gamer who have enough skills to conquer it. If you disagree let me give you the example of FIFA, God of War and Dark Souls series games (name is enough, no explanation required).

If two gamers want to know who’s better, they would choose PUBG not GFF.

Free Fire:

Pros:

  • You can play it on both low end and high-end devices
  • It takes less space
  • It has unrealistic but cool graphics
  • The gameplay is simple
  • Since it is not based on reality like PUBG, it has many cool additions like the Gloo wall, character skills, etc. that make the gameplay fun
  • It can be completed in 15-20 minutes
  • I really think that Free Fire has better physics compared to PUBG Mobile, in PUBG my bikes flip over for no reason and sometimes jumping from high points wont even cause much damage.
  • shorter game time, if you’re having a quick break you could just hop on a game and in around 10–15 mins the game ends
  • Suitable for low end phones, a 1gb ram phone should be enough to run the game smoothly with lower graphics.

Cons:

  • The game may lag in the low-end devices if many players land in the same area
  • It shows a glitch or lag for a few days after every update

PUBG Mobile:

Pros:

  • It is a really popular game
  • The graphics are realistic
  • It has a large variety of weapons and healing items
  • It has advanced controls
  • A player can also use a gyroscope to enhance the gameplay
  • Players can talk to anyone through ‘All Chat’
  • The game also provides additional chat options
  • Has a larger map compared to Free Fire.
  • Substantially longer game time, much more intense compared to the latter.
  • A large variety of vehicles and weapons to choose from.
  • Longer gameplay time, around 30–45 minutes a match, making the game more competitive compared to the other.
  • More to the fun end side, its like a “fun” game rather than a realistic game.
  • Better gun mechanics ( recoil)
  • Much better graphics, much more details and choices in decorating characters, more maps.

Cons:

  • It can be played only on the high-end devices
  • It takes a long time to complete

Which one is better?

To be honest, it depends on the person who plays the game. Both games give a different gameplay experience.

If you have the opportunity to play both the games, then you should try playing them. Then you can continue with the one that you enjoy the most.

However, if you have a low-end device, then you should play Free Fire.

Lobby of 50 vs 100

Intense battle combat or tactical gameplay that goes up to a maximum 30 minutes?

What would you prefer?

Of course, the first one, right?

Free Fire has only 50 players in the lobby which leads to intense battle combat. On the other hand, PUBG Mobile is tactical and might last up to 30 minutes.

Lesser Memory Space

Free Fire is one-third of PUBG Mobile in size. It can run smoothly with 3 GB RAM.

On the other hand, PUBG Mobile needs a device with a minimum of 4 GB RAM for a good gaming experience.

Diversity of Characters

Free Fire has comparatively more diversity of characters than PUBG Mobile. Most of the characters in Free Fire can be unlocked using the in-game coins.

Whereas in PUBG Mobile there is nothing called characters upgrade. You need to spend a lot of money to purchase skins and UC and no one wants to spend money on a free game.

Ultimately, the choice of the game depends on the individual preference of the gamer.

CONCLUSION: –

PUBG is far better and you should not compare it to GFF. They are not comparable. PUBG is a AAA rated ambitious project for mobile platform which brings Mobile gaming to a whole new level whereas GFF is to give you a balanced gaming experience without needing good hardware. Hence, they should not be compared as they have different targets.
