Elon Musk has made it official ! Blue Tick on Twitter to cost $8 per month.

World’s Richest Person Elon Musk is probably the new CEO of Twitter after buying the company for around $44 billion.

Twitter will now charge for ‘blue ticks’. Twitter currently plans to charge $8/month for a new Twitter Blue subscription. Verified users will lose their checkmark in 90 days if they don’t subscribe to the new Twitter Blue after it launches.

Musk is a money making god…

Elon Musk just declared that Twitter verified blue tick will cost verified users $8 per month.

That is a total of $96 ( about N80k) per year. It is low enough for many verified persons to afford.

There are about 400,000 verified accounts on Twitter.

This means Musk will make about $38,400,000 yearly from verified accounts only. That is about N30B per year in naira.

I must give it up for this dude. He knows how to make money.

Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk has confirmed the microblogging website will charge $8 per month if anybody wants the “blue tick”, which shows an account has been verified as genuine.
“Twitter’s current lords and peasants system for who has or doesn’t have a blue checkmark is bullshit. Power to the people! Blue for $8/month,” Mr Musk tweeted.

“Price adjusted by country proportionate to purchasing power parity,” Mr Musk said, without telling the method that he used to decide “purchasing power”.

Mr Musk’s new plan for the verified icon also includes giving genuine users some superpowers.

“You will also get: Priority in replies, mentions and search, which is essential to defeat spam/scam. Ability to post long video and audio. Half as many ads. And paywall bypass for publishers willing to work with us,” Mr Musk, who is also the chief executive of Tesla Motors, tweeted.
