Production of iPhone 14 started in India, how much will it cost?
Apple has said that iPhone 14 is being assembled in India. The American company Apple has been making its products in China so far, but now the iPhone 14 is being assembled in India.
Apple is assembling the iPhone at its Sriperumbudur factory on the outskirts of Chennai, India. Apple has been manufacturing iPhones in India since 2017. But until now, only the old iPhone models were made in India. Now, Apple has started assembling the recently released new model iPhone 14 in India.
Apple will sell the phones manufactured in India locally but will also export them to other markets globally. Customers in India will start receiving locally manufactured devices in the next few days, according to Indian media outlet CNBC.
According to JP Morgan analysts, Apple will shift 5 percent of its global iPhone 14 production to India by the end of 2022. Apple could make 25 percent of all iPhones in India by 2025, according to JP Morgan.
It is said that Apple is also looking at the desire to diversify products away from China and increase customers in India. Apple is still heavily dependent on China for the majority of iPhone production. But Beijing has continued its lockdown strategy to contain the Covid resurgence. Apple also considered India as an option because the zero-covid policy has disrupted production at factories across China and caused problems in Apple’s supply chain.
Apple is also looking to boost sales in India, the world’s second-largest smartphone market. Apple had just 3.8% market share in India last year. In the second quarter of this year, Apple became the best-selling brand in the ultra-premium segment with phones priced above INR 45,000. This is said to be possible because of the iPhone 13 model.
